File 0002.7: Where does the time go?
Since I posted my last blog I’ve completed another Assassin’s Creed game and Back to the Future. As much as I suck at writing blog posts, at least the streaming has been relatively consistent. Which I like. It feels good to have set aside at least two moments in the week where I’m actively trying to complete something and in some way being held accountable.
Okay, I don’t have that many viewers but for the couple that do watch my livestreams I feel that I’m obligated to complete them.
Also, it’s fun. For a long time I stopped enjoying playing games. I was still buying them because I thought it would give me joy but then I quickly abandoned them because “I had better stuff to do”. Even I don’t know what that better stuff that is? Watch more youtube videos? Somehow, before I became a father and I had loads more free time I felt like I had no time to do it because I would miss out on stuff. Now, when my daughter has first priority over everything the fear of missing out is less…because she is so important. It is somehow freeing and it allows me to enjoy playing games again.
Also, setting a goal is helping. Even though the goal is slightly unrealistic. (Completing 385 games in itself is not unrealistic I guess, doing it in blocks of ca 4 hours per weeks is).
Another unexpected benefit is that I don’t feel the need to buy new games, steam sales have come and gone since I started this project and I haven’t even felt that I wanted to buy any games.
If only I could start making money on streaming. But yeah, that seems like a far away dream and is also not what my ultimate goal is of doing this.
As for the writing thing, I slowly started picking up again, I have actually been writing quite a bit lately for my new book. I’ve slowly started setting up the finale which will be quite a challenge but I think it’s going to be really fun.
Most importantly, allowing me to write different genres of story telling but all in a same setting (a semi science fiction/fantasy setting) is quite liberating although the world building is tough. I want to write a blog post about world building at some point. Maybe I will do that soon, as I have some thoughts about that as well!
For now, I will keep juggling my number 1 priority, my live streams and my juggling balls and I have a pretty good time doing that, currently playing Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and making very good process each stream and after that another long Assassin’s Creed game but it’ll be fun for sure!
